TENDRING Council is £667,000 better off than expected.

The bulk of the extra cash generated over the last year was income from its parking services department, while some was a result of the council spending less than anticipated.

While £400,000 will be added to the cash pot for upgrades to Frinton and Walton Swimming Pool, the other £267,000 will go into the council’s reserve fund.

It will bring the reserve fund total up to £767,000.

Council leader Mick Page said: “We are still looking to invest in our priorities and make a real difference locally.

“But the need to continue with a planned budget reduction programme is clearly recognised and remains the key focus for the council to continue to provide quality services and investment at a time of reducing budgets.”
