A DISABLED teen from Clacton was delighted to clinch the star prize at a sailing show – a free boat.

Daisy Swinbourne, 16, who has the muscle-affecting condition cerebral palsy, scooped the grand prize at the Royal Yachting Association’s annual dinghy show in London.

The youngster went to the show in March and put her name into the hat for a top competition designed to help people to start sailing.

She had to enter her name and state why she wanted to get into sailing.

Daisy said on her entry slip: “I am wanting to find a sport I can participate in as I am partially disabled.”

And the teenager’s name has now been picked from more than 1,500 entries to win the grand prize.

She was given a Topaz Taz dinghy and rig worth thousands of pounds, as well as a mass of other sailing gear to get her started.

A stunned Daisy said: “I was so surprised when I found out I had won. It feels incredible to be the winner of such an amazing prize.”
