A POPULAR Clacton care home resident celebrated reaching her 100th birthday milestone with cake and a card.
Elizabeth Payne, known to everyone as Sissy, was thrilled to receive her card from the Queen on June 10.
Born near Smithfield Market in London, she moved to Essex in 1947 and has lived her ever since.
Sissy was renowned for working with her hands, making gift boxes for a living, while being a prominent member of the Railway and Aldersgate clubs in Clacton.
In 2008 she moved into Corner House care home in Wash Lane.
Manager Raymond Hughes said: “Sissy loves her cup of tea and particularly enjoys the musical entertainment that we organise within the home, but most of all she loves to have a good laugh.
“We love having her here and it has been lovely to see her reach her 100th birthday.”
A member of staff baked a special cake for the birthday girl to mark the occasion.
