PRIMARY school pupils have signed up to boost their community by becoming junior wardens.
Youngsters from Frobisher Primary School in Jaywick have taken up the challenge to set an example in their area.
The junior warden project will see pupils take part in activities and events to promote and protect Jaywick.
It was launched by Tendring Council’s Jaywick Neighbourhood Team and Jaywick Community Forum.
Council leader Mick Page said: “This is all about promoting citizenship and the pupils were very keen to take up the challenge.
“They started to come up with a wish list of what they would like to be done to bring about improvement, identified their areas of concern and what topics they want to learn more about.
“It showed that they really care about their community and environment and want to make a difference.”
Pupils started the project with a litter pick along Jaywick beach, collecting several sacks of rubbish.
