A DEATH row dog will be given a lifesaving operation after generous donors stumped up more than £3,000.
Romanian pooch Ando endured a tough life in his native country, being left to die in a “kill shelter” before he was rescued by an animal care volunteer.
Heidi Bennett, of Peake Avenue, Kirby Cross, adopted Ando over the internet and paid for him to be shipped over to the UK.
But after funding his large vet bills and nursing the under-nourished pooch back to full health, Heidi was devastated to be told Ando had a diseased hip joint.
She was told he needed a £3,000 operation to save his life.
Heidi tried to remortgage here home and take out a loan to raise the cash but her bid was rejected.
She issued a desperate appeal through the Gazette – and readers have stepped up in spectacular fashion.
A delighted Heidi has now raised the £3,000 needed to save Ando’s life after receiving a £900 anonymous donation.
She said: “It took us 18 days to raise the money in total. People have been so generous and kind. It’s incredible, I can’t believe it and I can't thank people enough."
