RESIDENTS across Tendring are being urged to make use of their free leisure voucher over the coming months.

Around 70,000 vouchers went out to council tax-paying households earlier this year.

They can be used for a wide range of activities at leisure centres and swimming pools across the district, but so far just 444 people have taken up the offer.

Now residents are being urged to use the vouchers before they expire at the end of September.
They allow free activities including swimming, gym classes and racket sports, and can be used by any member of the family.

Tendring Council leader Mick Page, who introduced the idea, said: “The initial take-up was good but it seems to have slowed up more recently and I urge people to make us of them while they are still valid.

“The vouchers will be ideal during the school summer holidays and it may be that someone else in the family who received one may want to pass it on if they are not going to use it themselves.”
