Students raise cash for food banks by staging charity conga
STUDENTS at a special school helped to raise cash for a food bank by staging a sponsored conga.
Almost 100 pupils at Shorefields School, Clacton, took part in the fun charity event.
It was the idea of the school’s 'citizen group', which wanted to raise money for the town's Salvation Army food bank.
Headteacher Jo Hodges said: “This fundraising was the idea of Ellis Smith, 18, as he loves the conga.
“The young people organised it themselves and so far have collected £25.
“They plan to go shopping to buy items for the food bank.
“It is lovely that our students think so much of others and want to help in any way they are able. I am very proud of them.”
