A DECISION on whether to reopen Clacton Hospital's maternity is due to be made this afternoon.
Today's meeting of health bosses at Colchester Hospital Trust could reverse the shock decision to temporarily close baby wards in Tendring earlier this year.
The Gazette today called on them to do the right thing and open Clacton’s maternity unit for mums to give birth.
MP Douglas Carswell echoed the plea.
“Local people have spoken, the Gazette has spoken and common sense must now prevail,” he said.
