AN MP plans to campaign for train line improvements after meeting with disgruntled rail users.

Clacton MP Douglas Carswell attended a meeting with Walton-based rail user group Ontrack to discuss aspects of Tendring’s rail service which desperately need upgrading.

Ontrack members say it is vital that the service is improved.

They want cash spent on boosting the frequency of trains and rail infrastructure, as well as cutting journey times.

Ontrack chairman John Smock claims an improved rail service could be the key to revitalising Tendring and helping people get back to work by improving their access to jobs.

MP Douglas Carswell has backed the group’s demand for a top rail service.

He said: “Many local people are having to pay thousands of pounds for season tickets. They have a right to expect a good service.”

Mr Carswell has been working with his fellow East Anglian MPs, including Priti Patel and Bernard Jenkin, to build a case in a bid to force investment in the area’s rail infrastructure.
