CHARITABLE members of Clacton Ladies Circle have raised more than £5,000 for a children’s charity.
The group raised the cash throughout the year for Wellchild, a national charity for sick children.
The ladies, aged between 18 and 45, handed over a cheque for £5,029 to Wellchild’s Melanie Parker.
A spokesman for the circle said: “Chairman Annette Senchell started the year with a horse race with a difference - the difference being that the Ladies Circle were wearing inflatable horse outfits and running, skipping and hopping down a race track.
“Other events through the year included a carwash with Clacton Fire Brigade, an auction of promises, swimming in the sea on Christmas day dressed as Where’s Wally and the London Marathon.”
The cash will go towards providing much-needed support for children across the country.
