ANGRY residents will take to the streets this weekend to highlight their concerns following Essex County Council’s controversial street light switch-off.
A torchlight protest will take place across Tendring shortly after midnight on Friday.
Residents will hold torches under their nearest streetlights to show their anger over plunging most of the district into darkness between midnight and 5am.
The scheme was introduced in March as part of a plan to save money and cut carbon emissions.
But campaigners claim the move is effectively a “curfew” for residents.
Residents are being urged to join the protest at 12.10am this Saturday.
