PROTESTING residents have hit out at a councillor who is trying to “cram” six homes on to the site of a bungalow in Little Clacton.
Conservative district councillor Mick Skeels was given permission to build the new homes in Holland Road at a meeting of Tendring Council’s planning committee on Tuesday.
Eight residents turned out with placards to protest against the plans at Weeley Council Offices.
Speaking on behalf of the group, which collected a petition of more than 120 names, Avril Black said: “There has been no consideration of the neighbours.
“The house has a garden behind it and he wants to cram six bungalows on it."
Mr Skeels previously represented Little Clacton on the district council but now represents Great Clacton’s St John’s ward.
Planning agent Ron Cross, speaking on behalf of Mr Skeels, said many of the arguments against the application, such as a lack of parking spaces and access requirements, were “rubbish” and that they exceeded statutory requirements.
“The development is not cramped,” he said.
The committee voted 7 to 4 in favour of the application.
