A YOUNG boy suffered a bite to his leg after a dog broke free of its collar at a St Osyth holiday park.
The seven year old was riding his bike at The Orchards holiday park when the attack happened.
The dog was being walked by its owner but tore towards the youngster when its collar broke.
It sank its teeth into the back wheel of the bike before biting the boy on the leg, leaving him with several puncture wounds.
Bosses at The Orchard have now permanently banned the dog from the site after an investigation.
A spokesman said: “It was an extremely unfortunate incident. The dog’s collar broke while the owner was taking it for a walk.
“The owner has owned a caravan at the site for more than 30 years and there have never been any problems before, but the young boy was bitten and action had to be taken.
“The manager at the site has told the owner she will no longer be allowed to bring the dog onto the park. It has been permanently banned.
“We apologise to the boy and his family for the incident."
