THREE green homes in Jaywick will be open to the public this weekend.

The eco-homes are open on Saturday from 10am to 5pm as part of the Colchester Green Homes project.

It is aimed at showing people how they can help to save the planet.

The properties are at 16 Golf Green Road, 104 Golf Green Road and 64 Spenser Way.

The first property in Golf Green Road has 16 photovoltaic panels that provide electricity for the house, as well as a surplus that is sold to the National Grid.

The second had external wall insulation installed by Ice Energy in 2013. Those who live in a property where cavity wall insulation is impossible are invited to see how external insulation is fitted.

The house in Spencer Way has a log burner and a biodiverse green roof.
