THE final pair of airworthy Lancaster bombers in the world are set to take to the skies at Clacton Airshow for the first time.
Airshow organisers have signed up the prized Avro Lancaster, which is owned by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, and has been kept in the skies by a half million dollar fundraising drive.
It will join the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster for both days of the event on August 21 and 22.
Tendring council’s events boss Mark Platt believes it is a major coup for the show.
“To see two Lancasters flying together over ahead will be an amazing sight to behold and I am sure it will pull in even more visitors this year.
“It will be a rare opportunity to see them together and I can’t wait."
Last year the airshow attracted approximately 140,000 people over two days and generated £4million in additional revenue.
