A SERVICE of remembrance for families who have lost their babies during pregnancy or birth is being held in Clacton.

Parents can take part in a special candle-lighting ceremony at the service, which includes hymns, music and prayers.

The St Luke’s Chaplaincy Choir will also be there.

Hospital chaplain the Rev David Flower said: “It is for parents who have lost a child as a result of a miscarriage, stillbirth or shortly after the birth of their baby, whether that loss was recent or many years – or even decades – ago.

“The idea is to provide some space and quiet for reflection to help with the grieving process, which can last a very long time."

The service takes place at St James' Parish Church, Beatrice Road, on May 20 at 7.30pm, and will last about 50 minutes.
