CYCLE-MANIA is set to sweep across Tendring tomorrow as the world’s top women cycle aces pedal into town.

Fans are gearing up for the district to host two days of the prestigious Women’s Tour bike race, which will attract worldwide TV audiences.

The five-day event starts on Wednesday and the third stage finishes in Clacton on Friday. Stage five starts in Harwich on Sunday.

Cycling fans are expected to flock to the area from around the UK and abroad for the race, which sees British cyclists Laura Trott, Joanna Rowsell and Lizzie Armitstead up against the likes of Marianne Vos, Emma Johansson and Evelyn Stevens.

Tendring tourism boss Mark Platt has called on the district’s residents to get behind British rider Emma Trott and support her Dutch Boels Dolmans team by wearing orange and black.
