SCRAPPING a village based recycling centre could cause a wave of flytipping, it has been warned.
The Kirby le Soken centre has been earmarked for closure in the latest cost-cutting measures by Essex County Council.
It is 13 across Essex shortlisted for the axe on a leaked document.
Maps were handed to the Gazette showing the location of centres set to close and those where new or larger facilities would be created.
It means people who use the Kirby site will be forced to use the busy Clacton recycling centre instead.
Essex County Council has said no final decisions on the county’s recycling centres have been made.
A spokeswoman also said residents’ survey responses will be taken into account before a decision is made.
In a statement, she said: “No decisions have been made to close any of the recycling centres in Essex.
“We have recently conducted a survey to better understand what residents value about the recycling centres around the county."
