HUNDREDS of people are set to turn out for two events rallying against the closure of Clacton’s maternity unit.
Units at Clacton and Harwich hospitals were closed to people giving birth last month.
Health bosses claim it is a temporary measure to allow coverage for staff shortages in other areas, but it is feared the units will now shut for good.
Campaigners will march in protest against the closures this weekend.
The first march will take place on Saturday, organised by Tory councillors and MP Douglas Carswell.
It will start at 10am at Martello Bay car park.
The second march will take place on Sunday, organised by Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Clacton Tim Young.
More than 200 people are expected to gather at Clacton Town Hall at 10am.
The campaigners will march along Station Road to Christmas Tree Island in the town centre, where a short rally will be held.
