CROOKS escaped with a copper piping after smashing their way into an empty house in Jaywick.

The burglars forced open the side door of a home in Gorse Way before ripping out the central heating system pipes.

The property also suffered water damage.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious between April 9 and 12 or who has been offered the piping should contact Clacton police.
