A DIY superstore in Clacton is set to close its doors, with the loss of up to 30 jobs.

Staff at Homebase, at Waterglade Retail Park, in Old Road, have been told that the store will close in June.

The site originally opened in 1988 as part of the Texas group and was taken over by Homebase in 1995.

One member of staff, who did not want to be named, said: “Everyone was very upset to be told it is closing.

“We were told the lease is up and it’s being taken on by B&M."

A spokesman for the firm said it would try to help staff find jobs with other companies in its group, including Argos.

Discount superstore B&M was contacted for comment, but has not replied.
