A TALENTED young singer and dancer from a Frinton stage school is set to make his West End debut.
Christopher Gopaul, 18, is a student at Frinton’s Stagestruck Academy.
The teenager only performed in his first show with the Frinton centre in 2011, but will now perform as a solo singer on the West End stage in front of an audience of 1,000.
He successfully auditioned to be part of a special variety show at Her Majesty’s Theatre – the home of legendary musical Phantom of the Opera.
The show takes place tomorrow, with Christopher performing the song Goodbye from musical Catch Me If You Can.
Christopher’s fast-growing CV includes impressive turns in a number of Stagestruck roles, including playing Tyrone in Fame at Clacton’s Princes Theatre.
He has also performed as a dancer at the Royal Albert Hall and will appear with other Stagestruck youngsters at the O2 Arena and Disneyland Paris later this year.
Academy principal Simone Castle said: “I am so proud of all that he has achieved in the last three years while he has been with us at Stagestruck.
“He is a credit to the school and a real example of what can be achieved with hard work and determination.”
