WALTON’S swimming pool is a step closer to getting a new fitness suite.
Tendring Council leader Mick Page had already announced a £200,000 fund towards the revamp of changing facilities at Frinton and Walton Swimming Pool.
Following his election, the Walton councillor also asked council officers to carry out a feasibility study on options to improve the site.
Work is now under way and plans are being developed.
Mr Page said proposals had been put forward for modernising and improving the changing facilities and including a fitness suite.
“I am confident that the £200,000 made available to this project will be sufficient to undertake the improvement works,” he said.
“However, I will be examining with officers, local councillors and cabinet whether a viable business case can be made for seeking further investment to develop the fitness suite.”
