ONE of Clacton’s biggest tourist attractions is to stretch further along the resort’s clifftop as part of a major new deal.

Clacton Pavilion is set to expand after being granted a lease for extra land on the seafront off Marine Parade East.

The venue was one of the jewels in Clacton’s crown during Clacton’s peak but became run-down over the years.

Billy Peak, who now runs the pavilion, has invested £3million over the past few years.

Tendring Council has now agreed to lease extra land to allow the tourist attraction to provide more attractions.

Mr Peak said: “This will be the third phase of our multi-million pound investment on Clacton seafront.

“Our aim is to provide new exciting facilities and attractions for visitors, as well as enhancing the appearance of the cliff slopes.

“We will be working closely with the council to drive this project forward which will also create more local jobs.”

In recent years the site has seen the creation of a family fun park, with more than 20 attractions, including fairground rides, aerial rope walks and a 5D mini-cinema.
