WALTON market bosses are hoping for a bumper summer after introducing an extra market day.
Organisers have had a scheme approved to open up the market on the second Saturday of every month.
It will be trialled in a bid to attract more stallholders to take part in the market and in turn attract more punters.
Market development officer Alec Smith said: “Having spoken to existing traders, townsfolk, visitors and potential new traders, Saturday opening was by far the most talked about subject.
“As a result we are trialling the second Saturday every month through the summer and if successful it is possible we may be able to look at introducing even more.”
The first Saturday market will be on April 12.
The expansion has already attracted a handful of new stallholders.
Walton market runs every Thursday in Millennium square, in addition to the new opening day.
