PLANS are in the pipeline to speed up the regeneration of Clacton seafront.

Town Hall bosses want to use the town’s planned £36million sea defence scheme as an opportunity to revive the resort.

They hope to press ahead with new beach huts, shelters, kiosks, toilets and other facilities without having to get planning permission first.

Planning boss Carlo Guglielmi said the council would have to consult residents before seeking a special local development order to achieve its goal.

The council’s planning committee has backed the idea and gave the go-ahead for an order to be prepared.

It will go out for consultation for eight weeks before the paperwork is finalised.

The order could cover the area of the sea defences works, from Holland Haven to Clacton Pier, as well as to Martello Bay.
