TENDRING schoolchildren took part in a special week-long championship event to boost Sport Relief.

Pupils from Tendring Technology College competed in a host of sporting tournaments in their tutor group teams.

Each student paid £1 to join in with events including golf, tennis, badminton, football, basketball, table tennis, rounders and volleyball.

Points were awarded for each sporting event and a Sports Relief Championship trophy was handed to the top-scoring tutor group.

It was organised by Tendring Technology College PE teacher Billy Newley to raise money for Sport Relief – a national fundraising effort raising cash for disadvantaged people in the UK and abroad.

Assistant principal Ruth Burden said: “The various tournaments were very exciting and creating a fantastic atmosphere around the school with students really enjoying themselves.

“We are committed to raising as much money for Sport Relief as we can and it was a great way to do it.

“Events like this are great for the school to get involved in and it is brilliant to see the students so keen to get play their part.”
