A DESPERATE appeal has been launched to help create a new carnival float for Walton’s queen and princesses.
The long-used former float was badly damaged when the building it was stored in was destroyed by a major fire.
The Old Hall Lane farm barn burned down in September last year after an accidental blaze was started.
Now carnival organisers are appealing for help to replace the float.
They need carpenters, local businesses and people who can donate materials to lend a hand in any way they can. They also need somewhere to store the new vehicle once it is built.
Karlie McGregor said: “We need to get this done as soon as possible, in the next couple of months.
“There is no can’t here. If we don’t get a float together the poor girls will have to walk around the Walton Carnival route, as well as the routes of the other carnivals."
Organisers believe they have sourced a caravan base to make up the lower portion of the vehicle, but need help building the rest of the float.
