YOUNGSTERS at a school in Clacton have raised more than £200 for the victims of the Clacton gas blast.
Ten people were injured in the explosion.
Pupils at Ravens Academy, in Nayland Drive, held a non-uniform day to raise cash for the victims.
Ward councillors Danny and Stephen Mayzes praised the youngsters.
Danny said: “We are so overwhelmed at not only the generosity of all the young people involved from Ravens Academy but also the responsibility and maturity that they have shown in wanting to get involved in helping the families of the Cloes Lane explosion.
“Rush Green and Clacton as a whole should be extremely grateful that we have such thoughtful and caring young people growing up in our community.”
