SHOPKEEPERS are being called on to help spruce up Clacton’s shopping streets.

Town Hall bosses want traders to help improve the town centre as part of its pre-season spring clean.

Council leader and regeneration boss Mick Page hopes retailers will help make the town more vibrant.

As part of the clean-up, pavements in main shopping streets will be pressure washed to remove dirt such as bird droppings and chewing gum.

Mr Page urged traders help by keeping the front of their shops tidy.

“We as a council can only do so much but with all of us working together we can achieve a lot more,” he said.

“It would be great if we all joined forces to improve the state of our town centres and make them more attractive for people to visit."
