FRINTON’S famous summer theatre group has been handed a £10,000 grant to help it thrive in the future.
Now in its 75th anniversary year, Frinton Summer Theatre is the longest running professional repertory theatre company in the country.
But bosses have been working hard to help the summer theatre move forward and attract a new generation of fans.
They have now been boosted by a £10,000 grant from the Colchester-based Hervey Benham Trust.
John Woodman from the trust said: “The Hervey Benham Charitable Trust seeks to continue giving substance to the ideals of its founder, who was a great supporter of repertory and amateur theatre in Colchester and Essex.
“In this tradition, the trustees are keen to see Frinton Summer Theatre survive and thrive as an important part of the local scene and as a training theatre.”
The cash will mainly be used to fund new community outreach projects.
It will be paid to Frinton Summer Theatre bosses over a three year span.
