INDEPENDENT shopkeepers were told the high street is still alive and kicking at a special course on boosting business.
Almost 30 traders from across Tendring took part in two half-day sessions on effective buying and merchandising.
The course provided information, tips and tools needed to help buy, price and display stock and maximise sales.
It was staged by Tendring Council and the National Skills Academy for Retail. The courses normally cost £85 but were offered for just £10.
Small businesses ranging from cake shops to hairdressers attended the event.
Council leader Mick Page said: “We aim to put on a variety of events to help our businesses thrive and grow and it is great when the offer is taken up as well as it was in this case.
“We will continue to support our firms and retailers in every positive way we can as part of our economic development role.”
