PARENTS are being warned against using amber teething jewellery.

Trading Standards officers have tested the bracelets and anklets sold by two Essex-based internet companies.

The jewellery is designed for babies to help soothe them while they are teething.

But following intelligence officers found the jewellery was a strangle hazard and also broke easily, meaning tots could choke on it.

The businesses are now working closely with the Essex County Council trading standards team to get advice and recall the products.

A Trading Standards spokesman said it could not reveal which businesses were involved as a court case could be launched against the companies.

Buyers are being contacted directly as part of the recall.
