A CHARITY football match featuring former Arsenal stars is set to take place in aid of the victims of an explosion in Clacton.
Two houses were destroyed and ten people injured following the blast at a home in Cloes Lane on February 5.
The community has rallied round to help the victims, with events including a fundraiser and family day at Highfields Grange holiday park on Saturday.
So far more than £1,700 has been raised for the families and a charity raffle at the event has boosted funds.
A signed Arsenal football shirt was raffled for the cause.
A charity football match will now take place between a Cloes Lane United team and the Arsenal Charity Team, which could stars former players Perry Groves, Paul Davis, David Hillier and Louis Boa Morte.
Other big-name players that could star include Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley and Ralf Little, from the sitcom Royale Family
The Cloes Lane team is managed by former Clacton FC player Sean Hillier.
The match takes place on May 4 at FC Clacton, in Rush Green Road and also includes a family fun day.
Of the money raised on the day, 70 per cent will go to families of the explosion and 30 per cent to the Arsenal Foundation charity for young people.
