ROGUE jet-skiers have been hit with heavy fines after being caught speeding off the coast at St Osyth.

Freddie Saye, from Romford, Sean Prescott, from South Ockenden, and Robert Watson, from Witham, were caught by Essex Police’s Marine Division last year.

Saye admitted breaking the eight-knot speed limit at Colchester Magistrates' Court, and driving without due care and attention.

He was fined £300, with costs of £326.

The case against Prescott and Watson was proved in their absence.

They were each fined £1,200 and ordered to pay costs of £366.

Tendring Council environment boss Nick Turner said: “We will always prosecute through the courts where we have the evidence to do so and to deter people from spoiling the safe enjoyment of others.”
