TENDRING is set to fly the flag for the Commonwealth.
The district will proudly fly one of 500 flags nationwide to mark Commonwealth Day on March 10.
For the first time ever, local authorities and civic dignitaries, community groups and charities throughout the British Isles will take part in special flag-raising events and dedication ceremonies.
Flags will be raised outside Clacton Town Hall and the council offices in Weeley.
Council chairman Neil Stock said: “It will be a great honour and a privilege to raise the Commonwealth Flag on behalf of the people of Tendring along with others around the country.
“This is history in the making and something we are very proud to be a part of.”
