THE sale of Essex police stations and buildings is expected to raise more than £9million in the next two years.
The money is expected to be spent on the remaining buildings and possibly a new headquarters.
Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh said: “There has been an under investment in the estate.”
Mark Smith, chairman of the Essex Police Federation, said: “There has been a lack of investment in buildings under the previous two chief constables.
“They may be looking to spend the money on a new purpose built headquarters.”
15 police stations, including Tiptree, Tolleshunt D’Arcy, West Mersea and Brightlingsea are among the ones being sold.
Others are expected to be added to the list in the next year.
