UNSUNG heroes from across Tendring were celebrated at a glittering ceremony.

This year’s Pride of Tendring Awards saw 21 gongs handed out to deserving recipients recognising the difference they make in their communities.

Winners were handed their accolades in front of more than 200 people, who packed into Clacton’s Princes Theatre for the special ceremony last week.

The ceremony was hosted by council vice chairman Val Guglielmi.

She said: “Listening to all the citations for the winners just goes to show how fortunate we are in Tendring and what excellent community spirit exists across our whole district.

“Every single person who went up on stage deserved their accolade and it is just a small thank you for their tremendous efforts.”

The event was staged by Tendring Council and marks the third year of the prestigious awards.

They were presented to: Brenda Davy, Pandora Sarson, Tracy Cooke, Susan Flanagan, Norman Jacobs, Jamie Robinson, Clive French, John Wolton, Nicola Moss, Hayley Lovett, John Dunnett, Ben Chandler, John and Jen Upson, Margaret Stone, Peter Bareham, Richard Colley, Walter Bensilum, Marjorie Culham, Suzanne McAree, Jane Robinson and Betty Blower.
