FUNDRAISING football match in memory of a baby who died tragically at birth has been hailed a huge success.

Gemma Lowman, 26, and partner Daniel Fox, 27, were devastated after losing daughter Aimee Louise last August.

The family organised a charity soccer match at FC Clacton’s Rush Green Bowl ground on Sunday to raise cash for the SANDS - Stillbirth and Neo-natal Death - charity.

The fundraiser is expected to make £500 for the charity.

Aimee Louise’s gran Sharon said: “It went really well and the rain held off so we had a decent turnout.

“There were a few injuries but nothing major.

“We raised £422 on the day and were really chuffed with that and it will probably end up being more than £500.”

Gemma and Daniel received counselling after the tragedy. They hope the fundraiser will help other families who suffer similar ordeals.

Sharon added: “Of course they have on and off days and some days are difficult, especially times like Christmas.

“But we are so happy that so many people put themselves forward to help for the event.”
