A BOGUS charity collector is suspected of stealing several rings from an elderly victim.

The suspect knocked on the door of the home in Spinnaker Close, Clacton, claiming to be collecting cash for a new building for cancer patients.

She tricked her way inside and left after the victim – an elderly woman – gave her a £1 donation.

But after the incident the victim discovered she was missing four rings of great sentimental value.

All four rings are gold. One has a large square sapphire stone with a diamond in the centre, while one has a series of tiny diamonds set around the band.

Another of the stolen items was an engagement ring with five diamonds on it, and the final piece was a signet ring with a flat brown stone.

The bogus charity collector suspect is described as white, in her 20s-30s, about 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build, with short dark hair and wearing all dark clothing.
