BUDDING journalists were set to work creating their own news packages and reports.
Youngsters in years seven and eight at Tendring Technology College had the opportunity to test out their reporting skills in a special preparation day.
They used the media facilities at the college’s Frinton campus to create news videos, learning to work with high-tech tools.
All working to different roles, they wrote scripts, filmed and edited their special news report about first aid with the help of sixth form mentors.
It was part of a preparation for the annual countrywide School Report day, organised by the BBC.
Tendring Technology College assistant principal Ruth Burden said: “The students were all very excited to work together and learn how to use the advanced equipment and techniques.
“They really enjoyed it and when I went in to see them the atmosphere was really buzzing.
“It was just like a real newsroom as they pulled it together to meet their deadlines.”
