A MAN has slammed Clacton Hospital after a vital physiotherapy session for post-surgery patients was cancelled due to a lack of staff.
Tony Smeeton, of Morris Avenue, Jaywick, took his partner Debra to the weekly session two weeks ago.
Debra has been wheelchair-bound since 2011, when she suffered kidney failure and had life-saving kidney and pancreas transplants.
She is still on the long road to recovery and was advised to take part in the sessions.
But last week she was told the session would not take place with no staff members there to lead it.
Tony said: “It is a vital part of getting Debra back on her feet and it is unacceptable to cancel the sessions like this."
Rebekah Anokhina, interim adult rehabilitation boss for healthcare provider Anglian Community Enterprise, apologised for the late cancellation.
But she said it was an isolated case and the physiotherapy service in the area has been increased to help patients.
