BUDDING bookworms at Clacton Coastal Academy have been named model students for their reading abilities.
Two classes at Pathfields Road school received ‘model class’ certificates and one was given a prestigious masterclass award.
Pupils have to read for at least 20 minutes a day and are then tested.
Literacy co-ordinator Jo Ballard said the system was designed to develop a life-long love of reading in pupils and raise literacy.
School principal Tracey Hemming added: “I am an avid reader myself and I am glad that we are passing on that love of reading to our students.”
