COMEDY fans snapped up tickets for funnyman Jimmy Carr’s gig at Clacton’s Princes Theatre.

There are just a handful of tickets left for show on May 3, with tickets almost selling out on the first day.

More than 700 tickets were snapped up by lunchtime on Monday after they went on sale at 9am.

A queue snaked outside the box office at Clacton Town Hall with the first people turning up before 8am.

“I remember what happened last time he was here and I wanted to make sure that I did not miss out,” said the happy fan.

“It was on social media and I was worried that if I did not get here early I could end up disappointed.”

Carr is back for his third visit to Clacton’s Princes Theatre following shows in 2008 and 2012.

Both were sell-outs and it is expected to be the same for this year’s show, which is part of his Funny Business Tour.

Remaining tickets cost £25 from the box office on 01255 686633 or online at essex-live.co.uk.
