AN application for a major development in Clacton has been officially submitted.
The Clacton Gateway scheme includes plans for a multiplex cinema and a supermarket, along with cafes and restaurants.
Developers Britton Construction say the massive £20million project would help transform Clacton’s economy and revamp the town.
And it could be completed as early as 2015 if given the green light.
It would be created on a large site of currently unused land off the Brook Retail Park roundabout.
The plans have now been handed over to Tendring Council.
Planning officers will look at them in detail and make recommendations, before councillors will get the chance to vote on the scheme and decide if it gets the go-ahead.
The plans for the development include an 80,000 square-foot superstore, which would be the biggest in Clacton.
And the multiplex cinema designs include a complex with six screens.
