Search is on to find Tendring's pub of the year

Members of Tendring Campaign for Real Ale are busy visiting the five Tendring hostelries shortlisted for its Pub of the Year award before voting closes early next month.

The nominees are Clacton's Old Lifeboat House and the Moon and Starfish, Brightlingsea's Railway Tavern and the New Bell and Alma Inn in Harwich.

The Old Lifeboat House has won the award for the last two years. 

All Tendring CAMRA members are entitled to vote. Pubs are judged on a number of criteria.

CAMRA chairman Jeff Luesley, said: “While it is a very pleasurable task, it is also a very serious one.
“Whichever becomes our pub of the year is the one we are telling visitors is our flagship real ale pub in the district.”

He added: “With so many fine real ale pubs to choose from it is a great achievement to become Tendring Camra’s Pub of the Year.

"I would advise anyone who enjoys a glass of real ale to visit our shortlisted pubs where I am sure they will receive a very warm welcome.”

Last year all five pubs were listed in CAMRA’s national Good Beer Guide along with the Blacksmith’s Arms in Little Clacton, Weeley’s White Hart, the Victory in Walton and the Haywain in Little Bromley.
