STREET lights in Tendring have been given a fortnight-long reprieve by Essex County Council.
Plans were in place to switch off the majority of lights in the district from midnight on January 26.
However a county council spokesman said: “The implementation for part-night lighting for Tendring will take place from February 9, following review by the cabinet member.”
Most street lights will be switched off from midnight to 5am to save cash.
Some lights in town centres and at busy road junctions will stay on.
The switch-off has already taken place in other parts of the county.
