A FAMILY has thanked members of public who came to their aid after their pooch was attacked by another dog in Clacton.

Isabelle Barron and her family were visiting Clacton for the day on Saturday when their dog Daisy was attacked in the town centre.

A Staffie cross breed left Daisy needing staples in her shoulder to close a bite wound.

But Isabelle, from Bishops Stortford, has praised passers-by who rushed to help after the incident.

She said: “The other dog was just walking past with its owner when it attacked.

“But I wanted to say thank you to the police and all the people who came to help.

“One gentleman went to get us a cup of tea and another lady found us details for a vet. People were amazing.

“It was a horrible thing to happen but it made it much easier having everyone helping out while we tried to clean Daisy up.”

Isabelle also called for owners of unpredictable dogs to muzzle their pets in public.

Police officers spoke to the offending dog’s owner but did not take any further action.
