A STAR actor has been lined up to light up the Frinton Summer Theatre stage in its 75th anniversary year.

Famous TV and theatre thespian Richard Wilson will join the cast for one week of its summer season.

He is best known for playing Victor Meldrew in BBC comedy One Foot in the Grave and famed for his “I don’t believe it!” catchphrase.

And Richard now hopes to help Frinton Summer Theatre to a successful year.

He said: “It’s going to be an experience I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into.

“I hope my presence and that of some other well known names will get as many people through the doors as possible to enjoy what will be a fantastic season.”

Richard last appeared on TV as Gaius in the popular series Merlin.

And he is now set to switch to the stage, appearing in a one-man performance of Krapp’s Last Tape in Sheffield, before heading to Frinton.
