VANDALS cracked the windows of cars and houses along a Clacton road by firing dangerous pellets from an air rifle.

The pellets were fired seemingly at random along Croft Road on Monday.

Police believe the air-powered weapon may have been fired from a car driving along the street between 5pm and 6pm.

Several Croft Road residents reported damage to officers, who carried out investigations in the area and examining CCTV footage.

PC Gary Coe said: “It continues to confound me as to why people carry out such criminal acts and don’t consider the consequences of their actions.

“There is a suggestion that the suspects were in a car that was being driven along the road on Monday evening.

“We’re obviously looking to identify the perpetrators behind this mindless vandalism so would appreciate any information.”

Anyone with information should contact Clacton police on 101.
